      Frequently Asked Questions

✅ Are these dimmer switches made from real brass?

Yes — each dimmer features a solid brass plate and precision knurled brass knob, crafted from 0.080″ architectural-grade brass. No coatings or stamped metals.

✅ Are they compatible with LED lighting?

Yes. Our TRIAC (leading-edge) dimmers work with incandescent, halogen, and most dimmable LED bulbs. Always double-check LED driver compatibility before installation — see our LED Compatibility Guide.

✅ Single pole or 3-way wiring?

We offer both versions. A 3-way dimmer can also be used as a single pole by skipping the traveler wire. However, a single pole dimmer cannot be used in a 3-way setup. If you're unsure which you need, we recommend ordering the 3-way version for maximum flexibility.

✅ Do they fit U.S. wall boxes?

Absolutely. All our dimmer switches are built to fit standard U.S. electrical wall boxes. Available in 1- to 5-gang configurations.

✅ Can I combine dimmers with toggles or outlets?

Yes! You can create a custom layout with dimmers, toggle switches, and outlets using our Product Configurator. We’ll assemble and ship your plate fully configured.

✅ Does the dimmer have an ON/OFF switch?

Yes — both types include ON/OFF functionality, but work differently. The single pole dimmer has a built-in click mechanism as you rotate the knob. The 3-way version uses a push-to-toggle knob: press to turn ON/OFF, rotate to adjust brightness.

✅ Will the dimmer remember my brightness setting?

The 3-way dimmer will return to the last brightness level when turned back on. The single pole dimmer resets to OFF when fully rotated counter-clockwise, so you’ll need to re-adjust brightness manually after turning it back on.

      ✅ Which bulbs are compatible?

These dimmers support incandescent, halogen, and most dimmable LED bulbs. However, compatibility depends on your LED driver. We recommend checking specs or consulting your electrician before installation.

✅ Can I use these dimmers with smart bulbs?

No — smart bulbs require constant power and shouldn’t be used with dimmers. Use dimmable LED or traditional bulbs for optimal performance.

      ✅ Do they come pre-assembled?

Yes — your dimmer switch will arrive fully assembled with the selected plate size, components, and finish. Ready to install — no extra assembly required.

✅ Can I preview finishes before committing?

Yes — order a Brass Hardware Sample Kit to see our finishes and components in person before placing a full order.
