      Brass Outlets Installation Guide

These steps are the same for a single-gang outlet or larger multi-gang configurations.

Before You Begin: What You'll Need

      • Your new outlet
      • Matching brass screws (included with your product)
      • Phillips head screwdriver
      • Wire strippers (if cutting or re-stripping wires)
      • Voltage tester (highly recommended for safety)

      Step-by-Step Cover Plate Installation Instructions

      1. Turn Off Power
Go to your home's main electrical panel (breaker box) and flip the breaker to the "OFF" position. Word of caution—always verify that the power is off using a voltage tester before touching any connections.

      2. Remove Old Device (If Applicable)
Unscrew and remove the old wall plate and electrical device. Gently pull the device out from the wall box. Note how the wires are connected before disconnecting them.

      3. Prepare Wires
Ensure the ends of your electrical wires are properly stripped (usually about 1/2 inch or 0.5 inches of exposed copper).

      4. Connect Your PlatePrestige Hardware
Connect the wires to your new PlatePrestige outlet. The wiring configuration will depend on the specific product and your home's electrical setup. Ensure all wire connections are tight and secure.

      5. Mount the Device
Fold the wires into the electrical wall box, push the device into place, and secure it with the provided mounting screws. Do not overtighten.

      6. Install the Wall Plate
Attach the brass wall plate using the matching lacquered brass screws. Tighten until snug and flush with the wall. Be careful not to overtighten.

      7. Restore Power & Test
Turn the circuit breaker back to the "ON" position and test your newly installed PlatePrestige hardware to ensure it functions correctly and safely.

Frequently Asked Questions about Our Outlet Plates

      ✅ Are these outlets UL-listed?

Yes—all of our GFCI electrical outlets are UL-listed and rated for 15A / 125V. They meet U.S. safety standards and are suitable for residential or commercial use.

✅ What’s included in each set?

Each set includes a UL-certified plastic outlet (GFCI or duplex), a solid brass wall plate in your chosen finish, and matching lacquered brass screws for easy installation.

✅ Are these compatible with U.S. electrical boxes?

Yes—our outlet plates and plates are designed to fit all standard U.S. wall boxes. No additional adapters or hardware are needed.

✅ How long does installation take?

Most installs take about 10–20 minutes per outlet, depending on your existing wiring and wall box setup.

✅ Do I need any special tools for installation?

No—installation typically requires only a screwdriver. For safety, we recommend using a voltage tester and consulting a licensed electrician if needed.

✅ What finishes do you offer?

For your outlet cover, you can choose from aged brass, antique, matte black, white, stainless steel, polished brass, or unlacquered brass—a living finish that naturally patinates over time.

✅ Can I mix outlets with switches or dimmers?

Yes—use our Product Configurator to design combo layouts with outlets, toggles, and rotary dimmers. We ship them fully assembled and ready to install.

Will these match a brass light fixture?

Yes, our brass finishes are designed to coordinate with common brass lighting tones. For the closest match, choose your finish (aged, antique, or brass) and consider ordering a sample kit.

✅ Will the finish change over time?

Unlacquered brass is a living finish and will naturally patina over time. Other finishes are designed to maintain their look with normal use.

✅ What is your return policy?

We accept returns of non-custom items within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition, and in original packaging.
