Brass Outlets Installation Guide
These steps are the same for a single-gang outlet or larger multi-gang configurations.
Before You Begin: What You'll Need
- Your new outlet
- Matching brass screws (included)
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Wire strippers (if cutting or re-stripping wires)
- Voltage tester (highly recommended for safety)
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Turn Off Power
Go to your home's main electrical panel and flip the breaker to "OFF." Always verify with a voltage tester before touching any connections.
2. Remove Old Device (If Applicable)
Unscrew and remove the old wall plate and outlet. Gently pull the device out. Note how wires are connected before disconnecting.
3. Prepare Wires
Ensure wire ends are properly stripped (about ½ inch of exposed copper).
4. Connect Your PlatePrestige Hardware
Connect wires to your new outlet. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
5. Mount the Device
Fold wires into the electrical box, push the outlet into place, and secure with mounting screws. Do not overtighten.
6. Install the Wall Plate
Attach the brass wall plate using the included brass screws. Tighten until flush with the wall.
7. Restore Power & Test
Turn the breaker back "ON" and test your new outlet.
